Holiday Traditions
Last year I started a Tradition with my own little famiy. We make centers for dipping chocolates, as well as almond roca, caramels, hard candy, breads, christmas golden graham treats, and other such goodies. Then we deliver them to neighbors and friends. This year we made Coconut chocolates, Mint Chocolates, Peanut Butter Chocolates, Almond Roca, and Caramels. We kept it a little more simple since we had Caleb's employees to do this year as well. After we finished the candy we printed off the 12 days of Christmas Stories on to decorative paper, and then tied them up with ribbon's. These, along with the candies went in a "brown paper package tied up with string" and decorated with a Christmas card and ribbons. They turned out pretty cute, and we had a lot of fun in the process. Yay for this time of year! I love the Spirit of Christmas, and the fun traditions that come along with it.
Here I am with my sweet little helper that ate a LOT more than she saved!
Here is the coconut chocolates. They are by FAR my favorite. So so so so scrumptious!
Here is a picture of some of the different candies all wrapped up.
These are the 12 days of Christmas Stories all bundled and ready to go.
And this is the finished product of goodies and stories. Very festive right?
And here is another sweet little helper jingling some christmas ornament bells for us!
And here she is all tuckered out. That's hard work ya know. (Notice she has started sucking her thumb...what do I do about that?)
Anyway, fun times. As I said before...I just LOVE this time of year!

I wish I was your neighbor!! Those look so yummy, and so professional. I am really impressed!
Oh, and the thumb-sucking thing. Just enjoy it! It makes for a very easy baby, and it's oh, so cute while they're little! Katelynn sucks hers, and I'm just hoping she stops on her own before she gets too old. If not, we'll deal with it then!
Mmmmmm. Those look so yummy, but too much for work for me. You went above & beyond, girl. Very festive.
And WAAAYYY cute header there! You need to come to our scrap nights for sure! Just let me know if you really want to. I, too, LOVE this time of year!! Merry Christmas!
I may need your Cocnut chocolates recipe! I make candy too, and I love it! This year the biggest hit was a new recipe I tried for Crispy Peanut Butter Balls. YUM. I've eaten way too much though. Your packages are SO cute! I really need to work on presentation. :) I love the 12 days of Christmas Stories idea too.
I'm still waiting for my goodies to come in the mail! They looked very fun. And Emi sure is getting to be a big cutie!
I also want your Coconut chocolates recipe! We have a chocolate fountain, and we usually make a bunch of things and then use the chocolate fountain to coat them with the chocolate. But I just didn't have the energy this year! So we did something different. But maybe next year! I am very impressed with your energy, enthusiasm, and like Mary said, your presentation. Very cute! And I love the little Bell Jingler! So cute! And my baby sucks his thumb too. There's not much you can do about that once they start, but it does make for a very content and happy baby anyway! :)
YUM! I think you should def. post the recipes on here so we can all start this tradition! :) Hope you guys have a Merry Christmas!
PS Your hair is SO cute! :)
Way to go Ash! It looks like you guys had a lot of fun and did a good job too--the goodies look really good! What a fun tradition! We make goodies too, but not quite like that!
It all looks so good! We made tons of candy too.
About the thumb. When Ashton was that size he started trying to suck his thumb and I would take a binky and hold it in his mouth. (Mean?) Anyway, he became hooked to the binky but when he was a year old it was easy to take away. As for Kristan, she is two and a half and still sucks her thumb. She was hooked before we ever got her and I don't think we will ever wean her from it.
That does look like fun. Your girls are so cute.
Cora sucked her fingers (middle and ring fingers on her right hand) for a good year. Then, just recently, she managed to cut the very tip of her right ring finger on something (we're not sure what, I just found it bleeding). So, we put a bandaid on her finger and she wasn't able to suck it for a couple of days. Since the bandaid has been off, I haven't seen her suck her fingers at all. So, I guess the moral is: if you want to stop your child from sucking thumbs/fingers try putting a bandaid on it for a few days. It worked for us. :-)
Ashley, I'm still waiting to try your homemade Almond Roca and your Grahm treats. They sounded so yummy when you were telling me about them. I'm glad those twelve days of Christmas stories came in handy for you. Oh, and I love your adorable girls. Little Emi looks so precious in her tuckered out picture.
One more positive thought on the thumb-sucking: Ruby was a thumb sucker (it was all Ray's fault, he put sweet stuff on her fingers once and after that she sucked them constantly). Anyway, one day, not long after I started feeding the girls solid food, I noticed that Ruby wasn't sucking her thumb anymore. I paid attention after that and found that she didn't ever stick her thumb in her mouth. She gave it up entirely on her own at around six months.
You can do what my mom used to do to my brother and put tabasco sauce on their finger. I dont think that worked however.
