sneak peak kitchen...

So it has been a while, and I thought I would show some progress. We decided not to go with plain white, and since I couldn't glaze them the way I hoped, we went with distressing them so we could still get the antiqued look. It really looks nice. I like it.Finished drawer fronts. We still haven't put up the door fronts, but we're getting there. At least the kitchen is functionable again.
My dad helped us install an above the range microwave. We really needed this so we could open up more countertop space.
The shelves that my husband built to finish off the upper row of cabinets. They look so nice. We still have to cover the screws as you can see, but they look great. Good job honey!
We did beadboard as a backsplash, and carried it around the rest of the room with a chairrail. Here you can see it on the west wall by the hallway.
patty cake, patty cake...and THROW it in the oven :)
Close up of countertops before we grouted. We did tile, and I LOVE IT! Best of all is was super easy, and me and my brother were able to do it all in one day!
And the new wood floor! I love this the most. It is so beautiful. Me and my brother also installed this in a day. Super easy, I got it on a GREAT deal, and it totally improves the look of the kitchen.
Well, that's about it for now. Hopefully we will have doors up and backsplash finished soon, and then we can do the small things like calking and clamping the sink, and 3/4 round trim. We have to replace the pantry door too, and then...I know, it's hard to believe...but then, I think we will be done!!! WOOHOO! Not bad for doing it yourself on a budget right? Time consuming, lots of frustration and tears, having to re-do things 10 times till the look works, hot days doing nothing but sanding and painting and sanding and painting, and 1,000 trips to The Home Depot for yet another small item you forgot you needed, but in the end, it will have been worth it... I think:) A big thanks to everyone who has been helping!!! I definitely needed your help, and your motivation.
