These two little cheese buckets are what Mother's Day is all about for me. I have to say, the last few Mothers Day's haven't amounted to much though. Caleb has to work a lot of Sunday's, and so while he has good intentions, and he's very thoughtful and kind, Mothers Days have just ended up being another day. He was suppose to have this Sunday off, and as fate would have it, we all got sick this week, and he had to trade days off on the day he was sick. So, he is working till 11:00 tonight, and will be back there from 8:00 to 8:00 tomorrow. While I was feeling a little let down about this, I find myself feeling a lot more fortunate tonight. Do you know what I'm talking about? You know those moments where God just steps in and allows you to see the beauty and miracles surrounding you in your life? I'm so grateful for those. I just spent the most lovely afternoon and evening with my little babes. We played hide and seek, and we made finger puppets,
and we read stories all cuddled up together for over an hour. Come bed time I just had to relish the moments of the day, and the evening, and I was almost hesitant to put them to sleep because I was enjoying them so much! Adi had to ask me if she could go to bed because she was tired! Lately the girls have been sleeping together in the same bed, and I adore watching the interaction of them giggling together and hugging and kissing. There truly is nothing better than a sister. Emersyn is also doing this melt-your-heart-sweet-thing where she insists on lots of hugs and kisses at bed time, and OH! it does make me melt. All in all, I just feel so blessed. I love being a Mother, and while I might not be getting showered in gifts and spoils, or having breakfast in bed, or dinner made for me, I do treasure the most special gifts in my life, my children. (sounds cheesy, but whatever, it's how I feel. AND, I'm a woman, so while I normally refrain from such gooshy sentiments on this blog, I'm allowed to let my emotions go whack!)
And while on the topic of Mothers, what better time than now to say how lucky I am to have such amazing Motherly influences in my life from both my own beautiful mother, and my husbands as well. Caleb's Mom has been a wonderful mother to me, and truly taken me in and loved me as a daughter, and I love her deeply for it. While I got the chance to visit Mom Wall today and wish her a happy day for tomorrow, I don't get to see my mom....
I really wish I could be there to see her tomorrow and tell her how wonderfully perfect she is. How while most people dread turning into their mothers, I want to be more like her. How while I once took for granted our relationship, there will never again be a day go by that I don't treasure everything she is to me, and to our family. I love you Mom.
Motherhood truly is the most sacred responsibility, and I'm grateful to have been given the Eternal calling of mother, and am grateful to have numerous motherly influences in my life, and the best example in my own Mom. I hope you all have a Happy Mothers Day!
"There is no one perfect way to be a good mother. Each situation is unique. Each mother has different challenges, different skills and abilities, and certainly different children. The choice is different and unique for each mother and each family. Many are able to be “full-time moms,” at least during the most formative years of their children’s lives, and many others would like to be. Some may have to work part-or full-time; some may work at home; some may divide their lives into periods of home and family and work. What matters is that a mother loves her children deeply and, in keeping with the devotion she has for God and her husband, prioritizes them above all else." -Elder Russel M. Ballard

Such a sweet post Ashley. I really appreciate the quotes. :) Happy Mother's Day to ya!
Very good quotes! In fact, I think I'll use them in my lesson today! (That's right. Teaching Relief Society on Mother's Day. Happy Day for me! Haha) Your girls are so cute. Emi has the cutest little chipmunk cheeks. I just love them!
I hope you're able to keep such a good perspective and enjoy your day even without a hubby. What a bummer.
Happy Mother's Day to you too! I'm sorry you were all sick---I was wondering when you missed dance class. You have two very sweet girls. They are so lucky to have you.
I live far away from my mom too. We're fortunate to have mother-in-laws who love us!
So sweet! Your girls are so precious. It was fun to spend time with Emersyn in nursery yesterday, she was so sweet to the other kids. You do a great job as a mommy, thanks for being a good example, happy Mothers Day!
